Having a mobile friendly website is key, when around 33% of website visits are from a mobile or tablet. Google now takes into account whether a website is mobile friendly when displaying results on mobile devices.

In the past it used to be very difficult to develop a mobile site, with a lot of sites having a mobile and desktop site. Now it is possible to have a single, responsive site, meaning all content is updated simultaneously, over having to update in multiple locations.

If you currently have a website which you want to keep, it should be possible to make it mobile friendly. Saying that, it may be cheaper to start from scratch to implement a new site (which could look very similar to your current site) to work on all platforms.

Useful Content

Producing content is relatively easy. Having content though which is useful for your reader though is a lot more challenging. Before you create your content, do you understand the challenges and pain points which your target audience (your next customer) have? The best way to find out about their challenges is to speak to both your current and any potential future customers you may currently be nurturing.

Now that you have an understanding of the challenges your website visitors are facing, you can create guides, blog posts and other content which they may find helpful in solving their problem, and start to build a trusted advisor relationship with them, meaning that you become the go to company for them when they need to implement the solution to their problem.

Regular Updates

Search engines place higher importance to sites which are regularly updated with new content. A of websites which have content which is 10 years old, are likely to be very out of date, especially if any statistics are involved. A good example is the world's population. Since the Internet become popular in 1995, the world's population has topped both the 6 and 7 billion mark.

Most websites which produce new content on a regular basis is through the medium of a blog. Blogs can be thought of as a diary entry of the day/week. The more often you blog, the more traffic you will generate.
